Dr. Pallavi Kumar is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Ruth and Raymond Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a medical oncologist and a palliative care physician, and is the Director of the Palliative Oncology Program for the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine. She directs the ambulatory palliative oncology program where she provides clinical care and has established the outpatient palliative oncology clinic, and also sees thoracic and gastrointestinal oncology patients at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. She has served as co-investigator in NIH-funded research on integrating palliative care into standard oncology care. She teaches medical students, residents, and fellows training in oncology and palliative medicine, and has led the implementation of the Serious Illness Care Program - a communication tool - at the Abramson Cancer Center and at Penn Medicine. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Kumar also serves as the Penn representative to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Palliative Care Guidelines Committee.
